So yesterday morning I am sitting in the dining room watching my daughter play and laugh when it dawned on me. "This child has been playing quite contently for 30 minutes with a trash can." Thirty minutes is far longer that I can hope to expect her to be content with any of the toys she has, but this trash can holds the power of hours of entertainment. As the day continued on she found other household items to entertain herself with, none of which were actually purchased with that goal in mind, but she continued to return to her trusty trash can whenever she caught sight of it again.
